Following Daniel Andrews announcement on Monday that there would be some easing of the COVID-19 restrictions, we’re pleased to advise that Tennis in Woodend is back, though with some limits.
This is not a return to normal, however tennis is an essential part of many of our lives and a return to tennis is also a return to exercise, an opportunity to reconnect with our friends and an outlet for our mental health.
It is therefore up to us to ensure we maintain a safe and healthy environment by continuing to apply social distancing and good hygiene habits.
Tennis Victoria have created the Return To Tennis Guidelines and we’re implementing these as we reopen the club from tomorrow the 15th of May, with the consent of our lease owner, the Macedon Ranges Shire Council
Victorian Government regulations released on Monday allow Sport and exercise activities to resume if we keep our distance (at least 1.5 metres apart), we are not playing indoors and there are a maximum of 10 people involved. So, what does this mean for tennis in Victoria? Singles and doubles can be played and small group coaching can recommence. Multiple small groups are allowed in large spaces though common sense should be applied to ensure those groups are spaced out across the venue. The clubhouses/rooms will remain closed, however external toilets can remain open as long as hygiene protocols are followed.
Specific to our club and in line with Tennis Victoria recommendations:
Court usage
Hygiene
Club coaching

We know that this is still a period of uncertainty for many and we hope that with the reopening of our Tennis Club our members can continue to benefit from its usage.
We look forward to seeing you on the court some time soon.
